Give a Lowcountry Student the Gift of Success!

Women United Launches Operation Backpack and Mimi’s Closet Initiatives

Women United is excited to announce the launch of its annual Operation Backpack and Mimi’s Closet initiatives, aimed at supporting underserved students in Beaufort and Jasper counties. With the start of the new school year just around the corner, Women United is urging the community to make monetary donations to provide much-needed resources for these students to thrive academically.

Operation Backpack and Mimi’s Closet are dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed in the upcoming school year. By contributing to these initiatives, community members can help equip deserving students with new backpacks, uniforms, and essential school supplies.

“With the support of our compassionate community, we believe that we can bridge the gap for these underserved students and give them the tools they need to succeed academically,” said Katie Phifer, Chairman of Women United’s Steering Committee. “Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of these young learners, empowering them for a brighter future.”

In 2022, Women United’s initiatives benefitted more than 1,500 students in need, providing them with school supplies and backpacks. The group collaborates closely with school social workers to identify students who may not be receiving assistance from other organizations.

The deadline for donations is August 31, ensuring that supplies reach the students just in time for the start of the school year.
