The United Way of the Lowcountry’s efforts to help improve student reading skills don’t stop at the end of the school year!
Each summer, United Way partners with a number of organizations to help minimize the loss of learning that occurs when young minds sit idle during the summer. Together, we provide picture books and chapter books to children of all ages throughout Beaufort and Jasper counties. As an added treat, volunteers — like Ron and Natalie Daise from “Gullah Gullah Island!” — have even recorded videos of themselves reading aloud from one of the books.
