Hurricane Matthew

Hurricane Matthew devastated our community, United Way of the Lowcountry stepped up to mobilize resources and help our neighbors.

  • United Way of the Lowcountry was designated by Beaufort County as the agency responsible for collecting, administering and distributing funds for disaster services in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
  • Calls to our HELPLINE increased by 1000% (increasing from 35-40 calls a week on average to more than 100+ per day in the weeks following the hurricane).
  • UWLC Board of Directors allocated an additional $100,000 to front-line partner agencies to help meet the immediate needs of our neighbors.

Thank you Big D’s Royal Tees for creating Hurricane Matthew t-shirts to raise money for relief efforts.
