Bob & Terri Dalton

Dear Neighbor,

As you may know, we are proud supporters of United Way of the Lowcountry (UWLC), which serves Beaufort and Jasper Counties. This past year, 148,496 local people benefited from United Way’s Community Impact funded programs and direct services.

We are in unprecedented times and the need in our community is greater than it has ever been in the past due to COVID-19. With that said, we would like to take this opportunity to share some information with you about this worthy organization. We support UWLC because of the holistic approach it takes in addressing the critical needs facing our community, focusing on Basic Needs, Education, Health, and Income/Family Stability.

United Way of the Lowcountry has been dedicated to this community for decades, addressing the critical needs of our neighbors and building a stronger community. Below are just a few of the ways UWLC is making an impact.

  • 39 programs at various local non-profit agencies, all vetted by community volunteers through site visits as well as financial and program reviews.
  • HELPLINE, which serves as a safety net service, provided information and referrals to more than 1,800 local people last year. Due to COVID-19, those calls have dramatically increased. Since the pandemic, the HELPLINE has guided 2,110 local residents to the assistance they need and provided more than $100,000 in direct financial assistance to those who have nowhere else to turn.
  • Early Grade Reading Initiative, Read Indeed – A child learns to read until the 4th grade. After that, they read to learn. With the help of 275+ volunteers and AmeriCorps members, our Early Grade Reading Initiative works with Pre-K through 3rd graders to help ensure children are prepared for success in school. 88% of students in Jasper County and 94% of students in Beaufort County who participated in the program, increased their reading skills.

We encourage you to watch the video below to learn more about the impact United Way of the Lowcountry is making in our community. You can also learn more about UWLC on their website at www.uwlowcountry.org.

Palmetto Bluff can help make a lasting impact in our community and help our neighbors when they need it the most.  Thank you for your consideration and please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Kind Regards,

Bob & Terri Dalton
